Job Overview
A MIG/TIG Welder is responsible for welding and fabricating metal components using Metal Inert Gas (MIG) or Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding techniques. They work with various materials, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, and ensure that welds are clean, precise, and meet industry standards. This role typically involves reading blueprints and technical drawings, setting up welding equipment, and ensuring safety protocols are followed during all welding operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on metal components, ensuring strong, precise welds.
- Fabricate parts and structures according to technical drawings or blueprints.
- Set up and adjust welding machines and equipment for optimal performance.
- Regularly inspect and maintain welding equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Inspect welds for proper penetration, alignment, and aesthetic quality.
- Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including materials used and work performed.
- Work closely with other team members, including fabricators, machinists, and engineers, to meet production goals.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in MIG and TIG welding techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of welding materials, processes, and safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality welds.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Stamina to stand, bend, or kneel for extended periods.
- Visual acuity to inspect and evaluate welds for quality.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/Industrial Setting, with exposure to noise, fumes, and a variety of temperatures.
- Use of welding equipment, protective gear, and safety measures is required.
